Who we are

Our house (side wing + half of the rear building at Grüntaler Straße 38) was saved from demolition in the 1980s by the squatters’ movement through self-organized maintenance and renovation. Now we’ve been living together for 40 years with around 30 young and old, queer and straight people from all over the world. We share the cost of buying basic groceries and the rent in solidarity, are part of the Martinswerk and manage ourselves as much as possible. This means: regular plenaries, independent maintenance, organization of Küfas and other events and networking in the neighbourhood. In principle, it’s like a large shared flat over 5 floors, with communal kitchens, an event and group room for left-wing groups from the neighborhood, a bicycle and wood workshop, a tidy garden, a raised bed and benches in front of the house (parklet) and much more.
